Alex Wilson

Archival Producer, Archivist, Researcher

Sheffield-based archivist with over 15 years of experience working and managing audio-visual archives including British Library Sound and Vision, Villon Films, National Jazz Archive, London Community Video Archive and Bridgeman Footage Library.

In 2015 Alex set up Memory Dance, a non-profit organisation that explores different modes of delivering screen heritage and music to diverse audiences, sourcing, digitsing and curating rarely-seen archive film and video collections in new and exciting contexts.

Historical footage and stills production and research for independent documentaries: ENO (Gary Hustwit, 2024) Yorkshire Cop… Police, Racism and Me (2021, Milk First Productions – C4), Miners Strike w/t (2024, BBC), NFWG (2024), Fifa Uncovered (2022, Netflix) Mind on The Run: The Basil Kirchin Story (2017), Original Version – The Story of Rough Trade Shops (in development).

Archival digitsisation projects include Brian Eno personal video archive, Picture Palace North, N.U.M. Video collection, Sheffield Film Co-op, private filmmaker archives.
